DSC Troubleshooting, Bypassing and Updating Codes Guide


Welcome to our guide on troubleshooting the DSC PowerSeries Keypad! If you've noticed a yellow triangle light on your keypad, don't panic - this is an indication that your system has detected an issue that requires your attention. However, with a few simple steps, you can quickly diagnose the problem and take the necessary steps to resolve it. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps you need to take to troubleshoot the issue and get your system back to working order. So let's get started!

To view a trouble condition, press [*] [2]. The trouble light will flash and the keypad will showcase a number that corresponds with the specific trouble condition(s). Please note that some trouble conditions will provide additional information. To view the additional information press [*] on your keypad.

Light [1] * Service Required- Press [*] for more information

Light [2] AC Trouble

Light [3] Telephone Line Trouble

Light [4] Failure to Communicate

Light [5]* Zone Fault - Press [*] for more information

Light [6]* Zone Tamper - Press [*] for more information

Light [7]* Wireless Device Low Battery - Press [*] for mor information

Light [8] Loss of Time or Date

Simple Troubles That Can be Easily Fixed

1. I received a trouble light [1] and press [*] for more information and is shows that my system is receiving a Low Battery Trouble
​

This trouble condition indicates that the system backup battery is low. This battery is used to provide power to the alarm system in the event of AC power loss. If this battery requires replacement, a new one may be installed or purchased from an authorized security dealer or online. If purchased online, please make sure to follow the required battery rating. 

Battery Ratings: 
Voltage = 12VDC
Type = Gell Cell or Lead Acid
Amp/Hour = 4Ah (minimum)

Note: After replacing the battery, it may take up to 24 hours for the battery trouble indication to clear on the keypad.

2. I received a trouble light [8] Loss of Time or Date, How do I program the time and date?

This trouble indicates that the time and date need to be programmed for the alarm panel. Certain system functions require that the correct time and date be programmed.

Programming Time and Date:
​
Step 1 - Enter [*][6]+[Master Code]

Step 2 - Enter [1]

Step 3 - Enter Time [HH:MM]

Step 4 - Enter Date [MM:DD:YY]
​
Step 5 - Enter [#]

Bypassing Zones

The alarm system will not allow you to arm it until all zones are closed. If a zone is open or experiencing issues, you will need to bypass that zone to arm the rest of the system.

To Bypass Zone(s)​

Step 1 - Enter [*][1]

Step 2 - Enter the 2-digit number of the zones or zones (1-4) to be bypassed

For example, if you need to bypass zone 2 then you will press [0][2] for this step.

Step 3 - Enter [#]

Please note that you if you wish to bypass a zone or zones, then you must follow the 3 steps above everytime you wish to arm your system as the next time you disarm it, the system will reset to normal.

Chime On/Off

To enable/disable keypad chime for your alarm system every time you open and or close a door/window, please do the following:

Step 1 - Enter [*][4]

When the above command is entered, the keypad will provide an audible indication of whether or not the chime has been enabled or disabled:

Chime ON = 3 Rapid Beeps
Chime OFF = 1 Long Tone


Access Codes

​Add User Access Code

To add a user access code to the system:

Step 1 - Enter [*][5]+[Master Code]

Step 2 - Enter 01-32, 40, 41 or 42 to select the user code which is to be added

Step 3 - Enter the 4-digit number for this user

Step 4 - Enter [#]

Change User Access Code

To change the 4-digit access code number of an existing user:

Step 1 - Enter [*][5]+[Master Code]

Step 2 - Enter 01-32, 40, 41 or 42 to select the user code which is to be changed

Step 3 - Enter the new 4-digit number for this user

Step 4 - Enter [#]

Erase User Access Code
​

To erase a user access code to the system:

Step 1 - Enter [*][5]+[Master Code]

Step 2 - Enter 01-32, 40, 41 or 42 to select the user code which is to be erased

Step 3 - Enter [*]

​Step 4 - Enter [#]
